NEWBORN FAQs

MY BABY HAS MILK SPOTS / FLAKY SKIN / SCRATCHES - SHOULD I WAIT?

Some parents believe that because their wee bub has milk spots, flaky skin or scratches that they should wait until they are gone before having them photographed. Thankfully this isn't the case at all! During the editing process I remove milk spots, those inevitable small scratches caused by tiny  fingernails, flaking skin etc. So please don't think that because your babys skin may not be blemish free like what you see in the images here that you can't have them photographed until their skin is 100% perfect!. They are always 99.99% perfect I just fix up the remaining 0.01%!

ABOUT THE SESSION:

Your newborn session with me will be relaxed, plus also a treasured memory in itself as I involve you in the creative process. Together we will select from a wide range of props and fabrics to add your own creative touch to the images. With these selected we will then move towards posing our precious wee one; this is done slowly, very gently, and with lots of patience.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?

The session length varies according to the session type you book but starts at one hour in duration. With newborn & young babies the longer the session duration the greater our opportunity to capture their incredibly special and overwhelmingly cute moments. Ideally we want baby to be sleeping, but whether this happens or not is entirely up to our little one! With a longer booking there is more chance of having a sleeping baby but even with baby awake we get very adorable images.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY BABY PHOTOGRAPHED?

The ideal time to capture newborn images is within the first one to two weeks when baby is still sleepy and beautifully curly. With this in mind I advise it best to book your session with me while you are still pregnant; of course babies do have a habit of not arriving on their 'due' date so I always keep my booking dates flexibile.

CAN I HAVE MY BABY PHOTOGRAPHED IF OLDER THAN THREE WEEKS?

Yes of course, the difference is that older babies do tend to be more easily awakened and as such can sometimes need a little more patience to get them into the poses we want. This simply means we may get more awake style shots than the sleeping style we get with younger babies.

CAN I BE PHOTOGRAPHED WITH MY BABY?

Yes! The only Session in which we do not have time to be able to photograph both you and baby together is the 'Essential Session - Baby Only' due to it's shorter length.

Note that the clothes you wear can have either a complimentary effect upon the image or an adverse effect. It's best to avoid logos, graphics prints, and strong patterns that will be distracting to the overall image. I also recommend that thought is given to choosing a colour palette will suit the surroundings in which your image will be displayed.

ARE THE PRINTS GOOD QUALITY?

Yes. The prints are Chromira Professional Quality available in a Lustre or Gloss finish; processed by professionals at a professional photo lab.
